SmcFanControl is quite lightweight and runs on all machines with a Mac operating system of 10.7 and above. You can use the settings to individually maintain the minimum speed of the left and the right fans. One setting is for when your computer is charging, another is for battery usage, and the last for when it is connected to an AC power source. The software comes with three presets that are easy to customize. You can download smcFanControl for Mac and use it to manage the temperature of your PC. This functionality allows you to gain full control of your device’s fans without worrying about system failure. smcFanControl takes care of this problem by setting a limit below which users can’t go. It’s reluctant, mostly because this could lead to CPU failure if someone reduces the speed limit below the required minimum. However, Apple doesn’t provide any software that lets you take manual control. To bring down the overall temperature, the device lowers the clock frequency and spins the fans so the processor gets a chance to cool down. It can even happen when your device is trying to complete old processes or running apps in the background. If you tend to run heavy applications or system-intensive games on your computer, you may have noticed the heat that your MacBook gives out. But the greater problem that I see-burning out your Mac, not your fan-is impossible with smcFanControl because it won't let you set the fan speed below (or above, for that matter) what Apple recommends. Should you be worried about damaging your Mac? After all, doesn't Apple know best, and shouldn't it, exclusively, mess with your fan settings? Maybe. While I tend to not use the program on flights, where I want to preserve battery life, I use it religiously at home/work when I don't want my Mac to be the dominant source of heat in my home (though we are considering saving on heating costs by switching from natural gas to MacBook Pro. By default the RPMs won't exceed 3,000, but you can tweak this to go much higher.
